Our RV …

Our RV is a 2018 Coachman Freedom Express 248 RBS travel trailer. It’s total exterior length is 28′-11″, with an interior floor plan length of almost 25′. We think it’s about the right size travel trailer for two beginning RV’ers interested in actually traveling with their RV.

We’ll have more to say about the huge, luxurious motor coaches and fifth-wheel RVs that normally surround us in RV parks and how they are used in a future blog post.

We pull our RV with a 2012 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 1/2-ton pickup truck installed with the full tow package (5.3L V8, HD cooling, 3.42 axle ratio).

So far, after close to 6,000 miles, we’re very pleased with the way the Silverado 1500 is towing the RV. A lot of credit goes to the high quality weight distribution/anti-sway hitch (Husky Center Line) our dealer encouraged us to install. However, most of our travels have been on relatively flat terrain. We’re considering heading west into the mountains next fall and may consider purchasing a more powerful truck for that trip.
