    Hi Jane and John,
It’s Kathy (Dooley) Ireland. I’m one of Micha’s friends. Just checked out your blog and website yesterday. What an awesome adventure. It also seems to me that a self-contained situation on a boat is a good place to be right now. Be sure to check out the Dry Tortugas in the Keys!

Hey, Kathy. Great to hear from you! You’re right, Jane and I have found ourselves in a pretty good situation during this pandemic. I think we’ve been in self-isolation now, without contact with another human, for 28 days. At some point we’ll need to get ashore to buy some food, but since we have plenty of solar power and a water maker, we can sit “off grid” indefinitely. This situation has certainly forced us to change our plans for the Bahamas this year, but we’ll probably get another chance next December, after the 2020 hurricane season. After that we’re considering continuing south out of the Bahamas for the eastern Caribbean. Grenada is looking good to us for a few years.

We’re currently anchored off Key Largo, in the northern Keys. We’ll probably hang out here for awhile and then slowly sail south to Key West, with short stops along the way to anchor off some of these beautiful keys. We’d love to head out to the Dry Tortugas, but we’ll have to see what the weather conditions and status of the park are at that time.

Thanks for your interest. Stay healthy.
